الفردي في إقليم فينيتو

وُلد كارلو كريفيللي في مدينة البندقية، ونشأ في كنف عائلة من الرسامين، وهو نسبٌ من المرجح أنه صاغ فهمه المبكر لفنون الرسم. قضى سنوات تكوينه الفني في امتصاص التيارات الأسلوبية في إقليم فينيتو، مستلهماً من مدرسة فيفاريني والدقة الخطية للتقاليد البادوانية. كان رجلاً ذا حساسية متميزة، بل وعنيدة في كثير من الأحيان؛ فبينما كان معاصروه يتجهون نحو الواقعية الطبيعية التي ميزت بدايات عصر النهضة، ظل كارلو كريفيللي مخلصاً للزخرفة الغنية التي ميزت العصر القوطي المتأخر. هذا الاختيار جعل منه شخصية فريدة في القرن الخامس عشر، فنانٌ استطاع أن يبحر في منطقة التوتر بين الأساليب القديمة والجديدة بتعبيرية شخصية للغاية، تكاد تكون متكلفة في دقتها.
