Picuris Pueblo

Picuris is a Tiwa-speaking pueblo in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains south of Taos. Naumer captures its church, campo santo (cemetery), and dome shaped horno, an oven for baking traditional bread. As part of the Works Progress Administration Program (WPA), Naumer painted scenes in Bandelier National Monument and nearby pueblos.Bandelier National MonumentLos Alamos, New Mexico
