Biography:
Francesc Galofré i Oller was a Spanish painter born in Valls, Spain in 1864 and died in Barcelona, Spain in 1942. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona under Antonio Caba and at the Academy Borrel. He also studied at the Real Academia de San Fernando in Madrid. Galofré i Oller was known for his realist style and developed a moralistic painting with an exemplification theme. He participated in various exhibitions in Madrid and was awarded several prizes. Galofré i Oller was a contemporary of the modernist movement but remained faithful to the realist style. He was known for his pipe smoking and is represented in the MNAC collection with the work 'A model'.
