This conceptual approach informs his sculptural process, guiding him to create pieces that convey serenity and harmony while simultaneously stimulating intellectual curiosity.
The Pursuit of Balance: Drawing inspiration from Zen Buddhism—a tradition deeply rooted in Kyoto—Ishino strives to achieve equilibrium between opposing forces within his sculptures. He seeks to capture the essence of natural landscapes not through literal depiction but rather by suggesting their underlying structure and rhythm.Material Dialogue: Ishino’s masterful manipulation of stainless steel and African granite underscores his belief that materials themselves possess inherent qualities that contribute to artistic expression. The contrasting textures and colors of these elements create a dynamic interplay that enhances the sculpture's visual impact.Abstraction as Revelation: Ishino argues that abstraction transcends mere imitation, offering viewers a pathway to accessing deeper truths about the natural world. By stripping away extraneous details, he invites contemplation and encourages audiences to consider the fundamental relationships between form, space, and perception.
