Born on 23 October 1834 in Burlöv, Schonen, Sweden, Anders Hansson Kallenberg entered a world shaped by the quiet industry of his parents, Hans Andersson and Gertrud Svensdotter. By 1875, he had settled in Berlin, where he remained until 1877. Following this, he returned to Sweden and rented a studio in Stockholm in 1877. His curiosity remained unquenched, leading to study trips through Holland and Belgium in 1878.
By the end of the decade, his expertise had earned him a place within the academic establishment. On 1 June 1879, he accepted a teaching position at the Stockholm Academy of Fine Arts, initially focusing on animal painting . He would later expand his pedagogical influence to the subject of landscape painting as well.
