His early years were steeped in the traditional professions – he trained as a lawyer, served with distinction in the army, and even held the esteemed position of personal secretary to the French Minister for Public Instruction. These experiences, however, in
stilled within him a keen sense of observation, meticulous attention to detail, and an understanding of human narratives that would later prove invaluable in his cinematic endeavors.
