Early Life and Artistic Training Manuel Rivera, sometimes referred to as Manuel Rivera Hernández, was born in Granada, Spain, on April 23, 1927. His early inclinations leaned toward the tactile and the three-dimensional. He began his formal training as a sculptor, working within the studio of Martín Simón.
