Im Zentrum einer der Mauern der Kapitelhalle, zwischen den beiden großen Fenstern, ist das Grab des Dogen Francesco Dandolo (d. 1339). Der byzantinische Sarkophag zeigt den Tod der Jungfrau, umgeben von den Jüngern mit dem Erlöser in der Mitte, die Marias Seele in Form eines Kindes in schwaddierenden Bands zum Himmel trägt. Oberhalb des Sarkophags in der Veranda des Bogens ist eine schöne Arbeit von Paolo Veneziano (1339), der Initiator der Schule der Malerei, die die Stadt im Laufe des Alters berühmt zu machen. Das Bild ist St. Francis und St. Elizabeth von Ungarn präsentieren die Doge Dandolo und die Dogaressa der Jungfrau.
