Jacques-Richard Chery is a world-famous Haitian painter, born on February 2, 1928, in Cap-Haitian, Haiti. He always painted as a young man, but to support himself he worked first as a barber, then opened a gas station in the Artibonite region. Chery's works have been reproduced in Vogue, Time Magazine, and many books and publications on Haitian art.
