Biography:

Rafael Moneo Vallés is a Spanish architect born on May 9, 1937, in Tudela, Spain. He is known for his designs that seamlessly blend with urban spaces, creating an architecture that is both serene and meticulous. Moneo studied at the ETSAM, Technical University of Madrid, and received his architectural degree in 1961. He has won numerous awards, including the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1996, the RIBA Royal Gold Medal in 2003, and the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2021. Moneo has built significant projects in Spain and the United States, including the Davis Art Museum at Wellesley College, the Audrey Jones Beck Building at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the Chace Center at the Rhode Island School of Design, and the Northwest Corner Building at Columbia University in New York City. His most recent work is Peretsman-Scully Hall and the Princeton Neuroscience Institute at Princeton University.
