Biography:
Julia Bornefeld was born in 1963 in Kiel, Germany. She studied at the Fachhochschule für Gestaltung Kiel from 1984 to 1989. She also studied as a visiting student at the Accademia delle Belle Arti di Venezia and the Akademija Likovna Umjetnost, Ljubljana. Bornefeld has received several awards, including the Joe-und-Xaver-Fuhr-Award in 1990, the Förderpreis des Landes Schleswig-Holstein in 1990, the Gottfried Brockmann-Preis in 1991, and the Premio OTTELLA in 2017. She has been active as a curator since 2006 and founded the Ateliergemeinschaft 'Artists by Moessmer' with Wil-ma Kammerer, Sylvie Riant, and Josef Zoderer in 2008. Bornefeld's work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at the Galerie der Stadt Esslingen, the Galerie Museum in Bozen, and the Stadtmuseum Bruneck. She currently lives and works in Berlin.
