Biography:

Geno Auriemma is an Italian-born American basketball coach who led the University of Connecticut’s women’s team to a record 11 NCAA national titles between 1995 and 2016 and to an undefeated season in 2015-2016. He was born on March 23, 1954, in Montella, Italy, and moved to the United States with his family when he was seven years old. Auriemma was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. He has also been the head coach of the United States women's national basketball team, leading them to gold medals at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. Auriemma is considered one of the greatest coaches in the history of women's college basketball.
