Early Life and Education Born: March 3, 1918, in Manhattan to a Jewish family. Grew up in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Miami Beach, Florida. Parents owned hotels in both locations, spending winters in Florida and summers in New Jersey. Attended Atlantic City High School and Miami Beach Senior High School.
