Esther, la reina judía del gobernante persa Ahasuerus (Xerxes), proporcionó una plantilla de valor y virtud salvando a sus compatriotas de una trama para matarlos. En este frente de un pecho (cassone) su fiesta matrimonial se representa como si tuviera lugar en Florencia del siglo XV. Los príncipes de la tierra llegan con Asuero, que también se muestra debajo del pórtico casándose con Esther y luego saludándola nuevamente a la mesa. Los edificios se relacionan estrechamente con la arquitectura florentina contemporánea. El taller que produjo este panel alrededor de 1460-70 fue el más prestigioso de su tipo en la ciudad.
