Hirohiko Araki: A Biography Early Life and Beginnings Born: June 7, 1960, in Sendai, Japan. Araki grew up with his parents and twin sisters. He credits his sisters’ playful teasing as a catalyst for spending time reading manga, particularly Ai to Makoto. Early Influences: His father's art books, especially the work of French artist Paul Gauguin, sparked his initial interest in drawing. He began submitting manga at a young age
but faced numerous rejections before gaining recognition. Early Career and Debut Araki initially attended Miyagi University of Education but left before graduating to pursue his artistic career.
