Born in Vienna, Karl Mayer entered the world as the son of a civil servant. One of his most substantial undertakings began in 1853, when he joined these colleagues in the decoration of the Altlerchenfelder Pfarrkirche. This was a massive undertaking that required both vision and physical endurance. Mayer was tasked with the design and execution of the frescoes located on the right wall of the nave. Through these works, he helped shape the visual atmosphere of the church, contributing his hand to the grander scheme of the building's interior.
