Elämäkerta:

Nagasawa Roshū was a Japanese painter during the Edo period. He was born in Sasayama, Japan in 1767 and died in 1847. He was known for his versatile artistic style and was a student of Maruyama Ōkyo in Kyoto. There are conflicting versions of Rosetsu's family origins, but the most credible appears to be that he was born to the family of a low-ranking samurai. He studied with Maruyama Ōkyo in Kyoto, and his early period works are in the style of his master. However, critics agree that the pupil's skill quickly surpassed his master's. Finally, they had a falling out and Rosetsu's works became more eccentric and individualistic.
