Un portrait de sir John Godsalve (c.1505-56). Un portrait de demi-longueur face aux trois quarts à droite. Il porte un col en fourrure, une robe noire, des manches bleues et tient une lettre. Inscrit dans une main du XVIIIe siècle en haut à gauche et à gauche de l'oreille: Sr Iohn Godsalue. S Jean Godsalue. John Godsalve a d'abord été représenté par Holbein en 1528 aux côtés de Sir Thomas Godsalve, son père bien connecté (Gemäldegalerie, Dresde). Depuis l'âge apparent de la baby-sitter, le portrait peut être daté jusqu'aux premières années de l'artiste
