Early Life and Education

Aldo Cláudio Felipe Bonadei

, a renowned Brazilian painter of Italian descent, was born in São Paulo, Brazil on June 17, 1906. Between 1923 and 1928, Aldo studied with the esteemed Brazilian academic painter Pedro Alexandrino and frequently visited the studio of Italian painters Antonio Rocco and Amadeo Scavone. He then attended the Florence Academy of Arts in Italy, where he trained as a painter with Felice Carena and Ennio Pozzi.

Artistic Career and Contributions

Upon his return to Brazil, Aldo shared a studio with fellow artists, forming the influential Grupo Santa Helena. He began teaching at the Escola Livre de Artes Plásticas in 1949 and became a pioneer of Brazilian abstract art. Notably, Aldo worked as a costume designer for Nydia Lícia & Sérgio Cardoso company and in two films by Walter Hugo Khoury.
