Gaetano Matteo Monti was an Italian sculptor, born in Ravenna in 1776 and died in Milan in 1847. He was active in Milan, where he worked on Milan Cathedral (Duomo de Milano) and the Arco della Pace with a similarly named Milanese sculptor, Gaetano Monti (1750–1827). He studied in Bologna and Rome and is known for his works in the Neoclassical style. His most famous works include the Tomb of Count Paolo Tosio in Vantiniano Cemetery in Brescia (1842), the Bust of Countess Maria Laderchi of Faenza, the Bust of Ambrogio Calepino (ca. 1839), the Monuments to Giuseppe Parini and Giuseppe Zanoja in Pinacoteca di Brera, the Tomb of Bishop Gabrio Maria Nava in Duomo of Brescia, and the Moses Fountain at the Sacro Monte in Varese.
