Vanmour probabilmente dipinse il ritratto di Abdullah Efendi (1680?-1743). Dal 1718 questo prete greco fu attaccato alla corte in funzione dell'Islam di Seyhül e dovette liberare il campo dopo la ribellione del 1730. Fu bandito, ma tornò tranquillamente a Istanbul dove morì nel 1743. Abdullah aveva una impressionante raccolta di documenti religiosi legali e ha svolto un ruolo cruciale nell'introduzione della stampa nell'Impero ottomano.
