In The Overseers, l'attenzione centrale è su due uomini che appaiono in primo piano mentre il basso orizzonte delle pianure raggiunge dietro di loro, dove i peoni che partecipano al rodeo possono essere visti. I due personaggi principali sono vestiti in abiti pregiati, con lunghi chiripá (pantalone), rastra (cintura larga) e facón (coltello lungo). Uno degli uomini, in piedi, passa il braccio sinistro sulla sella del cavallo; l'altro rimane montato. Il cielo azzurro è appena interrotto da nuvole. Intorno al 1860, il periodo durante il quale Pueyrredón dipinse questi pezzi, una tendenza verso un tipo di rappresentazione naturalistica molto semplice può essere annotata nelle sue opere, soprattutto quelle del genere folk, non esenti da certe tracce romantiche.
