Manfred Thierry Mugler: A Life in Fashion Early Life and Influences Born Manfred Thierry Mugler on December 21, 1948, in Strasbourg, France. Career Beginnings & Rise to Prominence Mugler began designing in the 1960s, creating pieces for boutiques in London before returning to Paris in 1973.
