Vangelis Rinas: A Painter of Aegean Echoes Born on the sun-drenched island of Samos in 1966, and raised amidst the rugged beauty of Ikaria in the northeastern Greek Aegean Sea, Vangelis Rinas’s artistic journey is inextricably linked to his homeland – its landscapes, myths, and enduring spirit. From a young age, he was immersed in a world of ancient traditions, maritime lore, and the raw power of nature, elements that would profoundly
shape his distinctive visual language. His upbringing instilled within him a deep reverence for the past, coupled with an intuitive understanding of human emotion and the subtle poetry of everyday life. Rinas’s formal artistic training began at the Higher School of Fine Arts in Athens, under the guidance of Professor Dimitrios Kokkinidis.
