Style and Academic Contributions
The paintings of Norbert Schwontkowski often focus on figurative themes that engage with the surreal and the unconscious. His compositions frequently feature figures and motifs that appear to float within vast, undefined spaces.
In addition to his practice as a painter, Schwontkowski was a university teacher. He held teaching positions in Bremen and Greifswald, served as a guest professor in Braunschweig, and held a professorship for painting at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg until 2009.
