Louis Auguste de Sainson was a French artist born in Paris in 1800. He was a watercolourist and draughtsman who specialized in history naturelle and géographie. He is known for accompanying the expedition of 1826-1829 of the corvette L'Astrolabe, where he produced nearly 500 drawings. He died in Paris in 1874.
