Born into a lineage of creators, Karl Sterrer was the son of the sculptor Carl Sterrer. His education took place within the walls of the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, where he studied under Alois Delug and Christian Griepenkerl. He was a man of many disciplines, yet his work remained anchored in a specific, disciplined approach to composition.
