He was a charter member of The Club, an influential discussion forum for New York artists, and participated in the 1951 Ninth Street Show. His work transitioned from referential abstracts to a style characterized by geometric abstraction, utilizing flat planes of color divided by horizontal and vertical lines. He maintained studios in New York City and Sagaponack, Long Island, producing oils, acrylics, charcoals, and prints.
