Biografi:

Antoine François Jean Claudet was a French photographer and artist who was active in London. He was born in La Croix-Rousse, France in 1797 and died in London in 1867. Claudet was one of the first commercial photographers in England to use the daguerreotype process for portraiture, and he made significant improvements to the sensitizing process by using chlorine in addition to iodine, which allowed for greater rapidity of action. He is also credited with inventing the red darkroom safelight and suggesting the idea of using a series of photographs to create the illusion of movement. Claudet operated studios in various locations in London, including on the roof of the Adelaide Gallery and at 107 Regent Street, where he established what he called a 'Temple to Photography.' He is the father of Francis George Claudet, who was an assayer for the Royal Mint in British Columbia, Canada, photographer and chemical engineer.
