Anne Page – (Dennis Miller Bunker) Previous Next

Artist:

Date: 1887

Museum: Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art (Bentonville, United States)

Technique: Oil On Canvas

Bunker’s portrait of Anne Page is exceptional for its elegant composition, technical virtuosity, and the haunting beauty of the sitter. Bunker rendered his model’s delicate face and hands with soft, even light, and placed pink and yellow roses on a nearby dressing table to suggest that her beauty will ultimately fade. Page, a Boston socialite, was a friend and model to a number of artists, including Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
