Christian Thompson AO is a contemporary Australian artist of Bidjara heritage. He was born in 1978 in Gawler, South Australia. Thompson holds a Doctorate of Philosophy (Fine Art) from Oxford University and has exhibited his work widely both nationally and internationally. His practice includes photography, video installations, and sound recordings. In 2018, he was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia for his distinguished service to the visual arts as a sculptor, photographer, video, and performance artist, and as a role model for young Indigenous artists.
