His early years were marked by immigration – arriving in Mandate Palestine as an infant with his family and settling in Haifa. This formative experience instilled within him a profound connection to the land, a theme that
would resonate powerfully throughout his artistic career. At just fourteen, Shemi began formal art studies under Paul Henich, laying the groundwork for a future dedicated to creative expression.
