The Path from Posina to Florence Born in Posina, in the province of Vicenza, Giuseppe Maraschini began his artistic life in the quiet corners of Italy. His early training took place under the guidance of Peterlini before he moved to Florence in 1859. It was in this center of classical tradition that his skills were truly shaped. He studied under Luigi Mussini and later attended the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence, where he worked under
the instruction of Pollastrini. His time at the Academy was marked by success, as he earned several prizes for his work. Life was not always easy for the young painter. After the wars of independence in 1866, during which he fought in Trentino, he returned to Florence to finish his studies. He often struggled to find steady work.
