Themlitz, born in Lisbon in 1968, is an artist whose work transcends the boundaries of traditional media, creating deeply evocative and immersive installations that resonate with a quiet power. Her journey as an artist has been one of continuous exploration, shaped by her Portuguese roots and nurtured through formative studies in both Portugal
and Germany. From 1987 to 1993, she honed her skills at Ar.Co – Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual in Lisbon, a period punctuated by a pivotal year spent at the Royal College of Art in London. This international exposure broadened her artistic horizons before she pursued a master’s degree in Fine Arts at the prestigious Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 1995, supported by a Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation fellowship.
