Américo Amarelhe was a Portuguese caricaturist, painter, and scenographer. He distinguished himself in the Lisbon theater scene as a set designer for some of the most successful productions of the first decades of the 20th century and as a caricaturist of the artists and authors of the time. A true graphic chronicler, he devoted himself almost exclusively, during his short career, to portraying and caricaturing people in the theatrical milieu, from actors, musicians, businessmen, and technicians to playwrights. He collaborated artistically in several periodical publications.
