Okamoto Toyohiko was a Shijō painter. He was born in Bitchū province (now Okayama) to a merchant family that ran a wine shop. He went to Edo (now Tokyo) and became the best pupil of Go Shun, leading painter of the Shijo School. He is known for his paintings and print artworks.
