The Artistic Evolution of Bernd Zimmer

Bernd Zimmer is a German painter, photographer, and graphic artist. His professional journey began with an apprenticeship as a publishing bookseller at the Carl Hanser Verlag in Munich, followed by a role as a graphic design assistant at the same institution. After moving to Berlin to work as a book designer for the Klaus Wagenbach publishing house, he pursued studies in philosophy and religious studies at the Freie Universität Berlin. His artistic practice gained momentum following a five-month stay in Mexico and the southern United States. In 1977, he co-founded the artist self-help gallery Galerie am Moritzplatz in Berlin.

Other significant thematic explorations include the Reflexions-Bilder, inspired by the lakes of Brandenburg, and the Kristallwelten series, which was influenced by the lush vegetation of Asia and Chinese painting and philosophy.
