Jean-Baptiste Pillement, also known as Brain de Sainte-Marie, was a French artist born in Nîmes, France in 1728. He was a skilled painter, engraver, and decorator, known for his delicate and intricate designs. Pillement's work was highly influential in the development of the Rococo and Neoclassical styles. He was particularly renowned for his landscapes, which often featured exotic and fantastical elements. Pillement's work was highly sought after by collectors and patrons, including Louis XV and Marie Antoinette. He spent much of his career traveling and working in various parts of Europe, including Italy, England, and Spain. Pillement died in 1808.
