Oey Soe Tjoen was an Indonesian artist born in Pekalongan, Indonesia in 1925. He was a well-known batik maker and one of the most famous workshops of batik in the north coast of central Java. Oey Soe Tjoen started making imitations of the very popular motif 'Buketan' after the designs of Indo-European Batik entrepreneurs Eliza van Zuylen and Jeanne Warnaar. He was known for his artistic brilliance and his batik creations stand as a symbol of the cultural legacy of Indonesian-Chinese made batik. Oey Soe Tjoen died in 1989.
