The Architecture of Perception
Born in 1966 in the historic heart of Lyon, Sophie Boyer has redefined the boundaries of contemporary digital illustration through her mastery of Op Art Illusion. Her practice is a rigorous exploration of visual vibration, where geometric precision meets a profound psychological depth. By utilizing high-contrast black and white palettes alongside sudden bursts of vibrant color, Boyer creates works that do not merely sit upon a surface but actively engage the viewer's optic nerve, inducing a rhythmic, pulsating movement within the frame.
A Dialogue with Geometry
Boyer's work is characterized by a luminous structure that challenges the stability of sight. Each digital composition is meticulously engineered to achieve a state of tactile silence, where the precision of symmetrical geometry creates an illusion of infinite depth. Her use of flat lighting is intentional; by stripping away traditional shadows, she forces the eye to confront the pure, mathematical rhythm of her patterns, turning each piece into a hypnotic study of light and form that echoes the historical gaze of mid-century optical masters.
