An Aristocrat at the Easel George James Howard lived a life defined by the dualities of his station. Born in London in 1843, he was the son of the Hon. Charles Howard and Mary Parke, an individual destined for the responsibilities of the peerage. While his lineage led him to become the 9th Earl of Carlisle, his true inclinations were found far from the political duties of a Member of Parliament. He moved through the halls of Eton and Tr
