Yet, rather than allowing this hardship to diminish his horizons, he channeled his focus into the pursuit of fine art. Under the mentorship of the esteemed James Giles RSA, a master of highland scenery and animal subjects, Cassie began to refine a vision that would eventually capture the very soul of the Scottish coast. Tragically, his health had been failing, and he passed away on May 11, 1879, shortly after this hard-won honor.
