Early Life and Artistic Education
Born in Davenport, United States, Charles Logasa was the son of Sephardic Jewish parents and Ukrainian immigrants. After moving to Omaha, Nebraska, as a young child, he became a pupil of J. In 1913, he took a leave of absence from his duties in Washington, D.C., to travel to Paris, where he studied at the Académie Julian under Paul Laurens. During his time in Washington, D.C., he exhibited works from the Armory Show in 1916, an event that introduced new abstraction to the city and sparked significant controversy.
