Walter Elmer Schofield was a master of the American Impressionist movement, a painter whose soul seemed inextricably linked to the raw, unyielding vitality of the natural world. Born in Philadelphia, he possessed a rugged, outdoorsman's temperament that defined his approach to the canvas.
