The Maestro of Art Deco Posters
Paul Colin was a prolific French artist, scenographer, and graphic designer who became a pre-eminent figure in French graphic arts. He later entered L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he achieved great academic success. Throughout his career, Colin was a master of designing books, theatre sets, and costumes, creating over 1,900 posters. His work is characterized by a signature style featuring bold imagery, strong clean lines, and brilliant colors. He was particularly noted for his ability to combine organic and graphic themes with geometric forms, often utilizing highly stylized or caricaturized humanoids juxtaposed with overlapping objects.

He designed iconic posters for famous venues such as the Folies Bergère, the Moulin Rouge, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. His posters, such as La Revue nègre and Le Tumulte noir, are internationally recognized for their vibrant colors and striking lines.
