Initially employed in designing rickshaws and flyers, his skill quickly garnered attention, leading to commissions for lacquerware and illustrations. It was through these early endeavors that he adopted the name “Gekko,” meaning ‘moonlight,’ reflecting his ambition to capture the ephemeral beauty of everyday life with a delicate, luminous touch.
