A Life of Art and Literature

Olivia Serres was a British painter and writer born in Warwick. The daughter of a house painter, she studied art under John Thomas Serres, a marine painter to George III, and married him in 1791. Her artistic work was exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts and the British Institution. Beyond her painting, she was a literary figure who produced a novel, various poems, and a memoir regarding her uncle, the Rev. Dr. Wilmot.

Later Years and Writings

In addition to her visual art, Serres is identified as the author of an expanded version of a text titled The Secret History of the Court of England, which was published in two volumes.
