This is one of tousands of printed maps in the collection at Skokloster. Throughout the centuries the owners of Skokloster have bought and ordered maps for various reasons. This map of the siege of Maastricht 15-30 June 1673 by the French troops commanded by King Louis XIV. From a military perspective, a perspective that would have interested most Gentlemen at the time, the siege of Maastricht introduced a new form of attacking a fortress called parallel siege.
