This period of experimentation with relief and lamination earned him international attention and prizes at major shows in Canada, Yugoslavia, and Switzerland. By 1968, he was recognized as a leading figure in the printmaking community in Quebec and served as a teacher at Sir George Williams University.
In 1964, Gaucher shifted his focus from printmaking toward painting.
