Born in France to South Korean parents in 1997, Daniel Kim’s artistic journey is a compelling blend of international influences and deeply rooted Korean identity. Initially raised amidst the cultural landscape of France, his family's relocation back to South Korea shaped his perspective and ultimately fueled his creative output. Today, he stands as a prominent figure within the K-Indie music scene, recognized primarily for his work with the bands ‘wave to earth’ and ‘The Poles,’ where he serves as both lead vocalist and primary songwriter – a role that allows him to weave intricate narratives of introspection and emotion into every composition.

Kim's musical career began in 2017 with 'The Poles,' quickly establishing his signature style: a delicate balance between indie rock’s raw energy and the poignant honesty characteristic of singer-songwriter traditions. His early work with ‘wave to earth,’ launched in 2019, further solidified this approach, incorporating elements of English lyrics – a deliberate choice he credits with aligning perfectly with the band's aesthetic—into their music. This fusion of languages reflects a broader exploration of identity and connection, themes that consistently resonate throughout his discography.

Daniel Kim’s childhood was marked by a unique duality – a brief immersion in French culture followed by a return to South Korea. This experience instilled within him a sensitivity to diverse perspectives and a desire to bridge cultural gaps through his art. His early life, shaped by the loss of his mother at a young age, undoubtedly contributed to the introspective nature of his songwriting. The challenges he faced fostered resilience and a profound understanding of human emotion, qualities that now inform his music’s vulnerability and depth.

Beyond personal experiences, Kim cites influences ranging from classic indie rock bands like Radiohead to contemporary artists pushing boundaries within the K-Indie scene.
